3 day watercolour course - Mondays 10.30am - 3.00pm June 8th, 15th and 22nd. Master Watercolour in Three Centuries - David Chandler In this practical, three day course, we study three watercolours from the Tate archive (one from the eighteenth century, one from the nineteenth and one from the twentieth) that exemplify three key principles of watercolour practice that will help you to master the artist’s most accessible yet challenging medium. Some previous experience with watercolours will be useful. Materials required Basic set of watercolours (to include burnt sienna and phthalo blue) No.6 and 12 soft round brushes (soft nylon, sable or squirrel or mixed hair) 3/4” or 1” flat brush (soft nylon, sable or squirrel or mixed hair) six A3 sheets of 140lb/300 gsm cold-pressed watercolour paper Learners to bring their own equipment. We have items in stock in our shop. Course participants will be entitled to 10% off painting materials. About David Chandler David Chandler has been been teaching art to adults for over twenty years and holds weekly classes in watercolour, acrylic and life drawing in Frome and Bath. He has lectured and demonstrated extensively to art societies in the UK and since 1999, has led regular painting courses in France, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. In 2011, he co-founded Frome Community Education, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers more than thirty different leisure classes to adult learners in Somerset. He was a regular contributor to Future Publishing’s 'Paint And Draw' magazine and was the writer and presenter of Seeing Things on FromeFM, a monthly radio programme about the visual arts which ran for more than seventy episodes. His practical book for watercolourists, 'Tate: Master Watercolour', has been translated into both Spanish and Korean and is available worldwide. There is on-road parking in the road opposite or in The Avenue where there is a walk-way to the studios. Coldharbour pay and display carpark is a short walk. You are welcome to pull into the yard in order to unload before parking.
