Macramé workshop - October

Workshop with Laura Jackson Learning and practising macramé is good for more than just making something beautiful. The combination of learning new skills, using our hands, concentrating and repeating rhythmic knots can be wonderfully absorbing and relaxing, while giving us that satisfying sense of achievement that comes from making something ourselves. This workshop is held in small groups and is suitable for participants of all skill levels and provides an opportunity to learn the art of macramé or to further develop your skills. Participants will learn the process of macramé and make 2 items from 100% recycled materials. Materials included, plus coffee & tea. Please bring a packed lunch. About Laura Jackson "Crafting has always been my escape. I love trying new techniques, experimenting and getting completely absorbed in making something. It's one of the few times I can switch off, slow down and be completely in the moment. Not everything works out first time, but that's all part of the process, and sometimes those happy accidents turn into your favourite pieces. About 7 years ago, after having a stroke, crafting became even more important to me. During my recovery, making things to challenge myself helped me rebuild my confidence, improve the feeling in my hand and gave me something positive to focus on. It reminded me just how calming, mindful and therapeutic being creative can be. I've been a craft tutor for over five years now, and I honestly love what I do. I often hear people say, "I'm not creative, I won’t be able to do it” but after chatting they'll tell me they knit or enjoy making things at home. My workshops aren't about being naturally creative – they're about taking some time for yourself, slowing down, having a go and enjoying the process. I keep everything simple and easy to follow, and there's nothing better for me than seeing someone leave my workshop feeling relaxed and proud of something they've made with their own hands." Parking Please note there is no parking directly at the venue. There is on-road parking in the road opposite or in The Avenue where there is a walk way to the studios. Coldharbour pay and display carpark is a short walk. Disabled Parking We have 2 disabled parking bays for blue badge holders directly outside the door to the studios that may be reserved in advance.
