INTERIOR DESIGN C&G LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE This certificate in Interior Design covers the wide range of skills that you will need to design interiors for kitchens, bathrooms, lounges and bedrooms with en-suites. These skills are the basics and are transferable to use in the design of other rooms. It is ideal for anyone from the complete beginner, those wishing to develop their skills and knowledge, and those who are wanting to progress to obtain a strong foundation in this subject area. The four units cover Developing Design Ideas, Sampling Techniques for Interiors, Design and application of decorative techniques to textiles for interiors and designing a loft space for personal living accommodation. Unit 201 - Developing design ideas: In this unit you will explore colour, line and mark, texture, mood, shape and void. You will be able to evaluate and record design work. You will produce a folio of design ideas, and sample and experiment with ideas using a range of craft materials, tools and equipment. Unit 202 - Sampling Techniques and processes for Interiors. In this unit you will be able to prepare for sampling techniques and processes for interior design and decor. You will evaluate results of the processes sampled and present finished samples in a style to use as a visual aid with a client. Unit 210 - Design and apply decorative techniques for Interiors You will learn about the characteristics of materials used for decorative textiles for interiors. You will learn techniques such as shibori, painting, fabric dyes, batik, stencilling and stitch, appliqués and pattern repeat. You will research contextual influences relating to decorative textiles for interiors in historical cultural and contemporary contexts. Be able to apply decorative techniques to textiles for interiors. Unit 211 - Design an Interior Loft Space You will learn about positioning requirements of services, safe traffic flow around furniture and furnishings and accessorising a space. You will be able to produce a site survey and sketch a range of layouts, using scale drawings. Presentation of your final design. Parking Please note there is no parking directly at the venue*. There is on-road parking in the road opposite or in The Avenue where there is a walk way to the studios. Coldharbour pay and display carpark is a short walk. Two disabled parking bays for blue badge holders can be reserved. TQT 200 hrs GLH 154-159 20 credits
