Course will run weekly in term time, on Mondays 10.00AM - 3.00PM Starting September 23rd 2024 TEXTILES LEVEL 2 AWARD 204 Hand Embroidery blurb: In this comprehensive extensive eight week course you will discover the art of hand embroidery, connecting your creative practice with art and design. Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric or other materials to create a myriad of beautiful hand stitched patterns. We will experiment with different fabrics and incorporate other materials such as beads and sequins, to embellish the design to take your work to the next level. Embroidery is a classic art which is suitable for any skill level, from beginner to advanced, and this course is tailored to suit your ability. If you choose to take the award, you will research the historical contemporary and cultural aspects of embroidery design and study key designer makers. This study will then inform your own design process and help you to develop your own style. However, you are welcome to undertake the course without doing the accredited study aspect, and just purely focus on the practical side of the subject. During the eight weeks you will produce a number of sample pieces to show case a variety of techniques, and finish with a final design to create a traditional or innovative piece of work in the form of a wall hanging, a bag, a box or a textile item for interiors. This course can lead to further courses and processes for fashion, couture, costume, textile art and interiors. South West Art Courses Ltd. City & Guilds Centre number 009765
